FREE SHOW at Bowery Poetry Club this Saturday

September 27th, 2010

Another last minute addition to the schedule – a free Saturday night show at one of our favorite haunts, the Bowery Poetry Club. Join us for two sets of our finest funk starting at 8pm. Doors open at 7pm with DJ Cochon de Lait spinning before, after and in between sets.

And if for some crazy reason you can’t join us in person, you can watch the show online at bowerypoetrylive.com.

9/24: free late show @ Rockwood Music Hall

August 31st, 2010

Up next on the ‘Skull schedule: a free late-night show at Rockwood Music Hall on Friday night, September 24th. We’ll be going on around midnight following a set by Jamie Masefield’s Jazz Mandolin Project. We’re very psyched to be part of such a great bill at one of NYC’s best venues. And did we mention our set is free?

And for our New Orleans fans, don’t forget we’ve got one monster of a show coming up at the Maple Leaf on October 23rd.

Another funky Friday at the Parkside Lounge – August 27th, 8pm

August 12th, 2010

We’re back at our home away from home, the Parkside Lounge on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, on Friday August 27th at 8pm. We’ve got Bearded Jon back on bass and special guest Aya Miso on keyboards. We always have a blast at the Parkside so don’t miss it!

And stay tuned because we have some very cool shows coming up in the fall, including a free late show at Rockwood Music Hall on September 24th, and our first gig in New Orleans since 2007, on October 23rd at the Maple Leaf.  We’ll be announcing some more soon, so keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter feeds for all the latest and greatest.

Then at midnight, Afroskull returns for a long set of our patented superfunk with a special guest all the way from New Orleans – Afroskull founding member Bill Richards on bass! Sullivan Hall – Feb. 26

January 28th, 2010

We’re back at Sullivan Hall in late February for the first time in a couple of years and we are extremely psyched to be playing at one of the city’s premiere venues for funky music.  We’re part of a great night of music on Feb. 26th that also includes Colour Reporter, Otis (it’s their CD release party) and Ben Ruttenburg. We’ll scheduled to do our thing at 9:30pm.  The band is absolutely on fire lately, so don’t miss it!  Tickets are already available at TicketWeb.

Also:

  • If you missed our live set on WFMU a couple of weeks ago, you can stream it from Irene’s playlist page.
  • Our long-awaited return to the festival stage is coming on April 24th, when we drop a midnight set at Some Kind of Jam 5 in Schuylkill Haven, PA.  SKOJ gets bigger every year and we are excited to be a part of it.
  • And don’t forget, To Obscurity and Beyond is now available from our own online store, as well as several of our favorite online music retailers.

Two live sets comin’ up this week

January 16th, 2010

Join us for two monster sets of Afroskull music this week, courtesy of WFMU radio and the Parkside Lounge.

First up, our first ever live radio performance!  Tune in to WFMU at 4pm on Monday as we join host Irene Trudel for a full hour of live Afroskull from WFMU’s studios in Jersey City.  Stream it at wfmu.org or tune in to 91.1FM in the NYC area.

Then on Friday 1/22, we’re back at our home base in New York City, the Parkside Lounge.  We’ll hit the stage a little after 8pm for another set that will knock you the funk out.
